I just created a website using Google Sites. Now I want a short domain name to forward to it. I understand that Google just goes through a 3rd party like GoDaddy or eNom.
Should I just use GoDaddy or eNom and pay – dollars, or are there advantages to spending the extra few dollars by purchasing through Google?
I suspect there is no advantage to buying through Google. The only advantage would be they’d set up the domain name to point at your site automatically but other than that, I think you have nothing to lose. If I were you, I’d get a domain name from GoDaddy or whoever (netfirms is my chosen one) and make the setting up myself (you’d have to learn this if you are new, but it would hardly take an hour to learn what to do.). Plus you’ll have more control on your domain name that way.
